GARDEN PARTY SUCCESS The Girl Guide Garden Party held in perfect weather at the residence of Mrs. F. A. Kitchingham, Ida Street, on Saturday, was a successful function. Winners of the Guides’ cooking competition, judged by Mesdames C. H. Lindsay- and F. Congreve were:— Best Sponge, Colleen Crooks 1; Peggy Blackmun 2. Best Scones, Joan McGowan 1, Colleen Crooks 2. Competitions were well patronised, the winners being:—Hidden Treasure: Mrs. W. G. McKay. Length of Snake: Mrs. Turner. Marble Competition: Miss J. McNiven. Darts: Mrs. Rouse. Fishing: Robin Williamson. Taipo: Shirley Pugh. Painting Hitler’s Mo.: Norma Farris. Mesdames F. Congreve, L. Armstrong and J. Shannon were in charge of the cake stall. Produce stall: Mesdames Excell, Castles and Dodd. Variety stall: Mesdames Page, E. Parfitt, Fitzgerald, Greenslade. Afternoon tea: Mesdames J. M. Bunt, C. H. Lindsay, S. F. White. Sweet Stall: Mrs. Reeves, Mrs. Tilleyshort, Mrs. Mills and Miss Jackson, assisted by the Brownies. The prizes were presented by Mrs. F. A. Kitchingham. Mrs. L. M. Schaef thanked all those who had assisted to make the function such a success, and Mr. and Mrs. Kitchingham for allowing the use of their grounds.
