HOME GUARD
IKAMATUA SUB-COMMITTEE The following sub-committee for the Ikamatua district has been approved by the Inangahua County Council: Messrs B. Mirfin (Inangahua County Council), D. Nicholson (Dredge Hands), L. O’Malley (Railways), S. Bradley (Farmers’ Union), A. Mirfin (R.S.A.), G. Williams and H. Steel (Timber Workers’ Union). At a meeting of the Sub-Committee Mr. B. Mirfin was appointed chairman and Mr. A. Bradley secretary. Enrolment forms are now to hand, and it is proposed to hold a general meeting on Tuesday next, to enrol members and to select a member to recommend to headquarters a platoon commander.
WELLINGTON HOME GUARD WELLINGTON, Dec. 5. “So far there have been 1,100 en- K rolments in the Home Guard in the Wellington area, but this does not include enlistments from Government Departments, from which returns are expected in the next few days. The campaign is going quite well, and we expect enlistments to come in readily from now onwards,” said Colonel Cowles. .
