FINANCIAL AGREEMENT. [by cable.—-press assn.— copyright ] LONDON, December’ 2. I A financial agreement between Spain and Britain was signed in Madrid to-day by the British Ambassador to Spain (Sir Samuel Hoare) and the Spanish Foreign Minister (Senor Sun'er). ' . I The “Daily Telegraph” says it is ; emphasised in London that the agreement is purely economic, and that , there are no political clauses or underi standings attached. Spain, nevertheless, is fully aware that the benefits will cease if she throws in her lot with the Axis. General Franco recently gave an assurance to Britain and the United States that Spain would not enter the war or allow it to spread to the peninsula.
