FACTORY EXPLOSION
AUSTRALIAN TRAGEDY [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] MELBOURNE, December 3. One man was killed and five were injured in an explosion in the pyrotechnic section of the Commonwealth Explosives Factory at Maribyrnong to-day. An official statement about the accident says an inquiry has been opened and until it is completed work in the section where the explosion occurred has been suspended. The section manufactured flares and rockets and similar devices. The dead man is R. F. Jensen. The only person seriously injured was J. Ward aged 16,’ who suffered severe burns on the face and arms. The others escaped with minor burns.
