TO-DAY'S RACING NEWS.

Galloping MEETINGS TO COME. December 6, 7 —Whangarei. December 7, 9—Woodville District. December 14—Otaki-Maori. December 14—Waipa. December 14 —Hororata. December 21 —Manawatu. December 26—Waipukurau. December 26, 28— Manawatu. ‘December 26, 28—Dunedin: December 26, 28—Taranaki. December 26, 30, January 1, 2— Auckland. December 28—Westland. Spelling: After racing badly at Invercargill, Royal Lancer has been sent home to his owner’s farm at Limehills for a short let-up. Clinch: Clinch was withdrawn from the Allson Cup, but he is a regular worker at Ellerslie, and looks ready to play his part whenever he is required. A solid performer, Clinch has not yet reached the zenith of his powers. Interesting Foal: Janet Gaynor, the half-sister to Sir Amyas, has produced a colt foal to Man’s Pal. Beaulah, the dam of Janet Gaynor, was a full sister to Mobile, and also the dam of Silver Lily. Good Luck: The three-year-old filly, Foxola, by Foxbridge from Aureola, who was purchased at llOgns at the yearling sales, has now won over £l,OOO in stakes during the past month. She did not show any form worth while as a two-year-old, but since Labour Day has not been beaten in five starts. Auckland Double:

Enrich won the Stewards’ Handicap and New Zealand Derby at the Cup meeting, and a similar double has been set for Belle Cane at Ellerslie at Christmas time, as it has been definitely announced that she will contest the Derby, and has also been engaged in the Railway Handicap.

Stud Notes:

Recent foalings and matings at the Windsor Park Stud, Oamaru, include the following: Merry Miss, by Son-in-Law from Merry Lassie, filly by Phaleron Bay, this season mated with Defaulter; First Cast, by Salmon Trout from Joyous, colt by Bulandshar, mated with Siegfried; Faison, by Flamingo from Lammermuir, colt by Defoe, mated with Phaleron Bay; Doretta, by Foxlaw from Dora, filly by Defoe, mated with Phaleron Bay; Gobble, by Tea Tray from Fulsome, filly by Siegfried, mated with the same horse; and Homedale, by Rossendale from Hasten Home, filly by Siegfried, mated with Defaulter.

Saccone Improving: Every race is improving Saccone, and the manner in which he won the Tiri Hurdles .on the first day of the Auckland Racing Club Is mid-Spring meeting at Ellerslie recently indicated that he is likely to achieve more success as a hurdler, even although he is getting up in the weights. Saccone was always going like a winner, and he had no trouble in disposing of the opposition when asked for an effort at the finish. He is a six-year-old gelding by Surveyor from Adi Vunivola whose form on the flat did not leach expectations and appears to have become more solid with a course of hurdling.

Auckland Cup Mission: It is reported that Old Bill’s special mission this season will be the Auckland Cup. Last season he had only nine races, winning four, including the Wellington Centennial Cup under 8.0, in a field of 25. This season the five-year-old Siegfried-Liaison stallion has been very sparingly raced. Out of two starts his best performance was to finish second, under 9.5, to Lady Tinkle 8.7, at Trentham last month. He recently pleased onlookers when galloped between races at Levin, and has been nominated for a sprint race at the Woodville meeting next month. He is likely to have the services of G. R. Tattersail in the Auckland Cup, a race this good horseman has yet to score in.

Consistent Youngster: Minko is one of the most consistent two-year-olds in the North Island this season, for she has had only five starts and has never been further back than fourth. She filled this position m the Nursery Handicap at Avondale tn September and again in the Welcome Stakes at Ellerslie in October. lhe following day she finished third in the Musket Stakes to Pay Roll and Nuna, and at Ellerslie last month was third in the Cambria Handicap and also in the Rakino Handicap. Minko is by Ringmaster from Severe, and cost hei trainer, H. Gray, 170gns at the last national sales. He now races her in partnership with Mr. D. R. Revell, and they should get their money back before the season is much further advanced.

FEILDING J.C. WINGS OF SONG WINS. PALMERSTON N., December 2. The Feilding Jockey Club’s meeting was concluded in fine but dull weather. The track was fast and there was a good attendance. The totalisator handled £ 19,950 ( £ 14,284 last year), and for the meeting the total was £38,392 (£34,334/10/-). Concluding results: — Oroua Nursery Handicap, five furlongs: 1 Premature 9.0 (Morris) 1; Greenock 2; 2 Fleche d’Or 3. Trotting MEETINGS TO COME. December 7—Waikato. December 7 —New Brighton T.C. December 21—Reefton. December 26—Ashburton. > December 26—Gore. December 26, 27 —Westport. December 27, 28,-31—Auckland. December 28—Winton. Fremont: Fremont was backed with confidence at Forbury Park, and if that was justified he should be worth following at New Brighton. For New Brighton: "" Manian trotted two solid races at Forbury Park and finished second on each occasion. He won’t have a Certissimus to beat at New Brighton, and should be prominent there. Reaching Form:

Uenuku is progressing satisfactorily in his preparation for the Auckland Trotting Cup, and a race next Saturday should bring him to the peak of his form. Although a winner of the Championships at Perth he is on the handy mark of 4.31, the limit of the Auckland Cup. Consistent Pacer: One of the most consistent pacers racing this season is Harold Guy, who has been four times second, once third, and once fourth in ten starts, while in each of his other races he has made a brave showing. A win for his owner, Mr. W. H. Jakins, would be populai’ and well deserved. Reputation Confirmed: Indian Clipper, a Jack Potts four-year-old, has had something of a reputation and he confirmed it when he won the Melrose Trot at Ashburton. He was running third place early and after going with Joan Potts for a few furlongs went on in the lead and was not caught, staving off a challenge from Swagger Jack. Above the Average:

R. Townley will not be represented at New Brighton on Saturday, but R. W. Townley, jun., will have a useful horse in Ned Worthy, who will start off the limit of the Achilles Handicap. The South Canterbury trained pacer is well above the average, and a win in this class will place him in line for more important races in the near future. Latest Edition: Marfax made up his ground gradually in the Mayfield Trot at Ashburton, and after running through to the front he stayed on, though tiring, to hold Latest Edition off by half a length. Latest Edition did not get a good run early and was then under a hard hold until the half-mile, where he moved up smartly. He should be an early winner. WAIKATO TROTS. ... FIELDS FOR SATURDAY.
