£2OOO INCREASE AT GREY. Collections under all headings at , the Customshouse, Greymouth, during November, 1940, amounted to £24,549/11/11, representing an increase of £2261/5/6 on the £22,288 6/5 collected in November last year. Under the individual headings, the highest sum collected was £9230 9/6 in war expenses, compared with £5438/0/4 in .the corresponding month of last year, an increase of £3,792/9/2. Customs revenue showed a decrease of £716/14/6 from £4604/16/4 (1939) to £3BBB/1/10 (1940). Sales tax amounted to £3202 9/9 last month, compared with £3187 0/8 in November, 1939, an increase of £l5/9/1. Gold revenue totalled £3934/3/8, compared with £4821 J 6/- in the corresponding month' of i last year, a decrease of £BB7/2/4.' Petrol tax collected last month amounted to- £2021/10/6.
