I [OUB OWN COERESPONDENT.] i HOKITIKA, November 29. At the monthly meeting of th< Westland branch of the Canterbury Mountaineering Club, Mr Davidsoi presided. Mr Murray Hewitt, a Christchurcl member, wrote enclosing 10/- towards a new axe for Grassy Flat hut In September, Mr Hewitt led a party of climbers over the Browning Pas; and down the Styx River to. Kokatahi, experiencing some difficulty after flood destruction of the track. Rev. Father O’Gorman wrote thanking the club for its invitation tc him to bring some scenic views of the Swiss Alps and give an address aboui them when the opportunity came tc him to visit Hokitika. Mr T. N. Beckett wrote asking foi a list of members, together with the dates of their election to the club This was to supplement a list being compiled by himself to be a permanent record of members of the club, who were rapidly becoming scattered. The secretary was instructed tc write to early members of the 'Westland branch, and ask their assistance. Reports foi’ the period since last meeting were: Genoa Peak from Toaroha Springs, King’s Birthday week ■ end by Mr C. Barnhill and party. McArthur Range, King’s Birthday weekend by Mr J. KUlsen. Bark Hut and Arahura, by Mr J. Chapman. The discussion turned to the study of bird and plant life and deerstalking experiences.
