N.Z. CASUALTIES

WELLINGTON, Nov. 29. The following Air Force casualty was announced to-day:— Acting-Wing Commander Alan Cunningham Mitchell, R.A.F., formerly of Wellington, died in India from peritonitis, on September 18. Wife, Mrs. D. E. Mitchell, Aden. The following N,Z,E.F. casualty was also announced: — Gunner Harold Gervaise Rose, died sickness in Egypt. Wife, Mrs. D. Rose, Auckland. ANOTHER D.F.C. WELLINGTON, Nov. 29. The Distinguished Flying Cross has been awarded to Pilot Officer Peter Duggan Smith, of Auckland. He is twenty-four years of age and’ was formerly employed by the Shaw Savill Shipping Coy. In 1937 he was selected for training with the Auckland Aero Club. He was granted a temporary commission in the R.N.Z. A.F., and left for England, last year.
