BRIBE PAID TO JURY

POLICE INFORMED LONDON, June 7. Two men were alleged at the Old Bailey to have tried to bribe the foreman of the jury in the trial of a Harley Street doctor, an Indian medical student, and a young woman nurse. Dr. Crichton Alison, aged 51, Kaikahuson Bram Kermani, aged 45, and Miss Delia Walsh, aged 22, have pleaded not guilty to conspiring to procure illegal operations on three young women. Mr. G. B. McClure, counsel for the prosecution, said: .“A member of the jury on Friday was approached by two persons on behalf of the defendants, so they say, in this case. The persons asked how much it would be worth to him to make the case ‘go the other way.’ The matter very properly went to the police, and, acting on their instructions, the juryman again met the persons concerned, who are now under arrest. Again acting on police instructions, the juryman took £5O in £lO notes which they offered him.” The foreman of the jury confirmed Mr. McClure’s statemerit. The Judge told the juryman that he had rendered a very great service by going to the police. The jury was then discharged, and the case will be reopened' la ter.
