MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. The weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the West Coast Rugby League was held last evening, there being present, Messrs P. Blanchfield (president), J. Stokes, B. Ramsay, C. K. Morel, A. Fielding, I W. Hopkins, A. Kyle, L. Hunter, P. Sweetman and W. Moore (secretary). In reply to the Committee’s protest against the abandonment of the proposed Auckland v. the Rest of New Zealand match, the New Zealand League advised that the original idea of the match was to assist players outside of Auckland, but when the financial side of the matter was gone into it was considered problematical whether the receipts would cover the expenses. Similarly, it was doubtful whether, in view of the prevailing conditions, the Inter-Island match would have been a success, and thus the Council regretted that it was unable to play either fixture. The President: Well, we did our best. It was decided to congratulate the West Coast Rugby Union on the meritorious win of its .team at Nelson, and on securing the,Seddon Shield. It was decided that, owing to the lateness of the season, the Junior One Round competition should be abandoned, and that junior Challenge Shield matches be substituted.

Mr Hopkins referred to the fact that all of the West Coast teams had won their matches against Canterbury teams last week-end, and on his motion it was decided to congratulate the West Coast junior team and the various club teams on their successes.

The President gave notice of motion, for the next executive meeting, to rescind the motion passed at the executive meeting on September 10, that all fixtures should be drawn up at the beginning of the season and adhered to, unless with the consent of clubs. He said that he thought the motion was too serious to pass with only one discussion. It was going to tie the hands of the Management Committee too much, .and it was not much use members being on the Centre unless they • could do what they thought best for the good of the code.

Mr Sweetman, for the Junior Advisory Board, reported that Brunner third graders had been declared winners of the Brown Shield (One Round competition); Marist third graders had been declared winners of the Herb. Moore Cup (Schoolboys’ Knock Out). The selectors were instructed to choose the team to defend the Northern Union Cup pgainst Inangahua following next Sunday’s matches. FIXTURES FOR SUNDAY. Senior (Knock Out replay): Blackball v. Runanga, at Blackball, 2.30 p.m. (P. Mathews). Senior (Bradshaw (fup): Marist v. Brunner, at Brunner, 2.30 p.m. (J. Griffen).
