A New York.cablegram announced the death from cerebral haemorrhage, of Mr Walter P. Chrysler,'president of the Chrysler Motor Corporation.,

The funeral of Mr. George Alfred Ross, of Cobden, took place this afternoon, at Karoro Cemetery. The services, at the residence and at the graveside, were conducted by Rev. W. Osborne Brown.

The death occurred at Waipiata on Wednesday last of Mr Morley Teague, a native of Stafford, aged 62 years. Deceased worked in Hokitika for many years. His wife predeceased him 10 years ago. Mrs E. Bent'ell, of Petone, is a sister of deceased.

The funeral of Mrs. Mary Jane Earl took place this morning, at Karoro Cemetery. Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church by Rev. Father Gregory and the service at the graveside was conducted by Rev. Father Holohan.

Lieutenant-Colonel H. E. Avery, of Wellington, assistant general manager and secretary of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition Company, has been appointed to a position at army headquarters. He is attached to the quartermaster-general, Colonel P. H. Bell. Lieutenant-Colonel Avery has had a distinguished military career, serving as a staff officer in the Great War, and subsequently holding the position of Quartermaster-General, New Zealand Forces. —Press Assn.

The death occurred at Hokitika, this morning, after a short illness, of Mr Michael John Kirwan, a native of County Waterford, Ireland, aged 73 years. Deceased had been on the West Coast 60 years, and resided at Karoro for many years. He is survived by five sons, William (Kumara), Michael (Wellington), Robert, Arthur, and Edward (Rangiora), and three daughters, Miss Annie Kirwan (Rangiora), Mrs E. W. Leathley (Palmerston North), and Mrs W. Gibson (Greymouth). The funeral willl take place at Karoro Cemetery on Thursday, following Requiem Mass at St. Patrick’s Church.
