COAL EXPORT
GREYMOUTH’S BIG INCREASE An increase of over 40 per cent, in the export of coal from the port of Greymouth during the four-weekly period ended June 22, as compared with the corresponding period of last year is disclosed in a return supplied by the District Railways Traffic Manager (Mr. G. H. McLean). The State mines and the Blackball mine were largely responsible for the greatly increased export, the figures in tons from the various mines, with comparisons with the corresponding period of last year also given, were as follows:— l
Totals 21,132 14,811 During the same period, a substantiar increase was also shown in the export of timber, the total being 3,120,012 superficial feet, as compared with 1,993,432 feet in the corresponding period of last year.
