LIVERPOOL MINE

IDLE AGAIN TO-DAY. The Liverpool mine, which was idled yesterday, by a decision of the horse-drivers, who objected to the condition of the drive, was idle again to-day. The" men arrived for work again this morning, but the horsedrivers decided not to work, as the drive had not been ballasted to their requirements, and the mine was idled.

It is understood that the drivers complained last week about the condition of the drive, and that it was then ballasted and put in order, to the satisfaction of the workmen’s inspectors. The employee to whom the ballasting of the drive was entrusted is understood to be a leading official of the Union,

The drive in question is used by the horse-drivers only twice a day, in the morning to take the horses into the mine, and in the evening to bring them out. A special meeting of the Miners’ Union was held yesterday afternoon, when it was decided to resume work to-day. That resolution, however was not carried into effect. A further meeting of the Union was held this afternoon. /
