CROQUET

WEST COAST TOURNAMENT. In perfect weather and with the lawns in good order, the West Coast croquet tournament was continued yesterday on the Makura Club s greens. Mrs. E. Moss won the Association’s senior silver button, and Mrs. Owen won the silver button for the B grade. Results of yesterday’s matches were: Championship Singles, first life, final: Mrs. McCracken defeated Mrs. Moss 26/14. Second life, final: Mrs. Whibley defeated Mrs. McCracken 26/21. ’ ' Handicap Singles, 6 bisques and under, semi-final: Miss J. Hambleton defeated Mrs. Walmsley 26/12.

Handicap Singles', over six bisques, second round:‘Mrs. E. Moss defeated .Mrs. Symes 26/18. Semi-final: Mrs. OAV.en defeated Mrs. A. Warnes 26/23. Handicap Doubles, second round: Mesdames Whibley and A. Warnes defeated Mesdames McCracken and Howard 26/11. Semi-finals: Mesdames Whibley and Warnes defeated Mrs. Herring and Miss Sheedy 26/15; Mesdames Lemon and Wilson defeated Mesdames Robertson and Hannan 26/9. Championship Doubles: Mesddm.es Hannan and Robertson defeated Mesdames E. Moss and Mercer 26/11.

TO-DAY’S PLAY. The croquet, tournament entered on its eighth day to-day, with, the layziis in splendid order and the weather ideal. Results up to the time the “Star” went to press, this afternoon, were as follow: — Handicap singles—six bisques and over-§emi-final: —Mrs Wilsqn defeated Mrs C. Moss 26-13. Mrs Owen plays the final with Mrs Wilson.

C grade silver button, final;-—Mrs Lawn (Greymouth) defeated Mrs Symes (Runanga) 26-17. All three silver buttons have been won by members of the Makura Club. The first of the three games in the final of the championship singles between Mrs Whibley and Mrs McCracken was Avon by Mrs McCracken 26-23.
