TO-MORROW’S DEPARTURES West Coast men selected for the special Railway Construction. Company for overseas war service are to leave by to-morrow’s express for Burnham Camp, and also the final supplementary draft of six men for the Second Echelon of the Expeditionary Force. The men who are entraining at Greymouth are to assemble at the railway* station at 9.45 a.m., and after the roll call there will be the usual short official farewell. CONSCRIPTION ISSUE. DUNEDIN, February 13. A swift, unanimous decision to express no opinion on the conscription V. voluntary enlistment issue, was reached by the City Council, in considering a New Zealand Defence League invitation to express an opinion. It was stated the Council should do everything to assist the war effort by the ‘ method the Government had chosen. CADETS FOR DUNTROON WELLINGTON, February 12. A further 10 cadets have been selected for training at Duntroon Military College, Canberra, Australia, under the Government’s policy of close co-operation with Australia on defence matters. In previous years the number of cadets has been five, but since the outbreak of war it has been decided to send double the number. The selected cadets who will attend a three years’ course at Duntroon with a view to their qualifying as officers in the New Zealand Military Forces, are: P. F. Hewitt (Auckland), R. M. Martin (Auckland), R. S. Gardner (Auckland), R. M. Gurr (Whangaiei), R. H. F. Holloway (I-lawera), A. W. Fitchett (Wellington), P. L. Molineaux (Christchurch), R. W. K. Amge (Timaru), K. J. D. McCorkindale (Dunedin), G. K. Bruce (Wellington).
