The third big group of nien — men between the ages of 19 and 23 —have been registered to-day for military service. To-day’s registration is expected to bring some 250,000 men, making the total, with the first two registrations, up to about 675,000. The third group will not actually be called up before the New Year. The Ministry of Labour and National Service announce that the provisional figures of the men between the age groups above indicated registering were 238,585. This total included 4,957 men who provisionally registered as claiming exemption on the grounds of conscientious objection, but it does not include those who,, owing to the distance of their homes from the local registration offices, will be registered by post, or seamen and fishermen. TOTAL OF 238,000 MEN LONDON, December 10. The registration of men aged from 20 to 22 years has totalled 238,000. Of these 2.1 per. cent, are conscientious objectors. BRITISH TROOPS ON LEAVE.
RUGBY, December 9.
The first men of the British Expeditionary Force to receive “Christmas leave” have arrived in England. They are all married, and will have 10 days with their families before returning to the front.
