SUPER GRADE PETROL
PROHIBITED IN AUSTRALIA
[BY cable —PREfts ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.]
(Received December 8, 1.30 p.m.) CANBERRA. December 8.
No more supplies of super grade petrol will lie permitted to reach Australia, as soon as the tankers now unloading this spirit or bringing it to Australia have been discharged. The acting-Minister of Supply, Sir Frederick Stewart, said that the prohibition of the use of super grade would conserve the Empire supply of aviation spirit.
The prohibition would not apply to petrol imported for aviation purposes, and the embargo would not have the effect of reducing the total quantity of petrol imported.
