[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, December 6. At a meeting of the committee of the Reefton Businessmen’s Association, Mr. C. McElwee presided. Mr. J. Dellaca reported that a deputation had waited on the County Council corning Shopping Week in Reefton. Favourable consideration had been given by the Council to the requests made by the Association advising the request for the erection of festoons of coloured lights in Broadway, and for the erection of greenery arches in the street, had been granted. It was decided to request the County Chairman (Mr. J. O’Regan) to telegraph the Minister of Railways and the General Manager regarding additional train services to Jnangahua Junction on December 15. It was agreed that a levy, be struck on all business houses to defray the cost.-of Shopping Week; also that the Reefton String Band be asked to help, on December 15, with a musical programme in the evening. Ways and means, of improving Shopping Week were discussed and the programme for the week was finalised. On the.motion of Mr. J. Patterson, it was agreed that the Council be asked to institute a “clean-up” week in Reefton. “That this meeting deplores the present state of King George V. Jubilee Park, and that the County Council be urged to put the grounds and paths in order,” was a resolution carried on (he motion of Mr. J. Dellaca. seconded by Mr. C. McElwee. At a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court held on Tuesday, Mr. G. C. Chisholm, S.M., gave judgment for the plaintiff by default in each of the following civil cases: Hempseed Bros, v. Robert McDonald. £ll/7/3, costs .63/5/-; R. D. McDonald Orsbourn v. W. H. McKinlay, £ll, costs £2/16/-; L. E. Morgan v. C. T. Murcott, £l5 4/3, costs £2/14/-. In a judgment summons case, Fred Wright v. Ivan Scott there was no appearance of debtor, and an order was made for payment of £lO/11/10, in default. 10 days’ imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended so long- as he pays 10/per week, the first payment to be made by December 12. In the case Norriss Bros. (Mr. Patterson) v. A. 0. B. W. Terrill (Mr. Morgan) claim for £2B for timber supplied, judgment was given for defendant, with costs, £7/9/-.
