HOLIDAY TRAINS.

[TO THE EDITOR.] Sil-, —The letter from “Hopeful" expresses the thoughts of many who will be travelling from Greymouth at Christinas and New Year. There is a further point that should be stressed, too. By running the additional expresses from the West Coast on the afternoon of Saturday, December 23, instead of late that evening, those travellers who are going south will be able to leave Christchurch that night instead of having to spend approximately four hours aimlessly wandering about that city in the very early hours of Sunday morning. There can be little doubt that it is the desire of the majority of those who will be using them that the Christmas trains should run on the Saturday afternoon rather than the Saturday night. It should not be beyond the resources of the Railways Department to satisfy their desires. —[ am, etc.. ANOTHER HOPEFUL.
