Miss M. Lyons, who has been on the staff of the Blackball school, left today, to join the staff of the Geraldine school.
Mrs. Reynolds, who has been the guest of her son, Mr. C. Reynolds, Boddytown, left, today, on return to Christchurch.
Passengers from Wellington to Greymouth by Cook Strait Airways service to-day were: Mrs. R. G. Gamboni and Mr. C. H. Redwood.
Mr. G. C. AVeston, one of New Zealand’s Rhodes Scholars for 1939, who was on his way to England when war broke out, is to return home.
Messrs R. Burns, Wellington, and R. Baker, Christchurch, arrived to-day to attend the Fleming-Baker wedding, this evening.
Mr. F. H. Stanton left last evening, for AVellington, to attend a, meeting of the executive of the Railway Tradesmen’s Association. ’

The death occurred yesterday at Dunedin of Mr. James Quaile, late manager bf the Dunedin Savings Bank, who retired in March,-'1938. Mr. Quaile was appointed accountant of the Bank in June, 1907, and manager in 1920.—Press Assn. . ■ ■
The death has occurred at Auckland of Mrs. Molly Hopkins, wife of Mr. Ken Hopkins, of Manurewa,'and formerly of Otira. Deceased, who was in her twenty-fourth year, was the eldest daughter of Mrs. Ellis, Christchurch, and' of the late Mr. W. Ellis, Greymouth. She is • survived by her husband and an infant daughter, also her mother, one sister, , Betty, and four brothers, William (Greymouth), Jack, Douglas and James. The . interment took place at the Waikumete cemetery.
An Official Wireless message stated that the King .has approved the appointment of Mr. David Kelly, Counsellor to the Foreign Office, to succeed Sir George Warner, on the latter’s retirement at the end of the year as British Minister in Berne. His Majesty received Sir Ronald Campbell, who kissed hands, on his appointment as British Ambassador in Paris. Afterwards, Sir Ronald and Lady Campbell were guests of the King and Queen at luncheon.
