BREAKING AND ENTERING. HAMILTON, November 2.

Cecil Frederick Hill,' 33, a labourer, of LoWor Kaimai, was sentenced by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers), at Hamilton to 15 months’ imprisonment with hard labour on each of four charges of breaking, entering, and theft’ a further charge of theft, and conversion of a. motor-ear. All the sentences are concurrent.

TRACTOR-DRIVER KILLED.

ROTORUA. November 2

Archibald Wallace, 28., single, employed on" his father’s farm at Ngakuru/was killed this morning when the tra'ctor he was 'driving while plouging a field above a creek bed capsized over n, 26-foot bhnk and fell upside down into the water. Wallace was found submerged in the water, and it appears probable that he was stunned by the fall and drowned.

CRUSHED BY LORRY. HAMILTON, November 2.

When a lorry he was backing into a sand-pit on his father’s farm at Matamata capsized and rolled down a 50foot bank, pinning him underneath, Phillip Thirwall, 23, married-, a farmer, was killed, and his brother, Ronald Thirwall, suffered a broken shoulder. A third occupant, Ronald Boyt, escaped with minor 'injuries.

PRISONERS SENTENCED. NAPIER, November 2

Prisoners were sentenced in the Supreme Court to-day by Mr. Justice Blair. Mikeara Arapata Tautanga, for forgery, littering, and theft, was sentenced to two years’ probation. Vivian Harvey Were was sentenced to three years’ reformative detention for being intoxicated in charge of a car and causing injury, failing to stop and render assistance, and conversion of a. car. He was disqualified from obtaining a licence for 10 years. WANGANUI CASES WANGANUI, November 3. Prisoners were sentenced by Mr. Justice Smith, as follow: Rukuwai Kirona, 58 attempted carnal knowledge at Patea, admitted to probation for two years, and 1 ordered to pay costs, £2/5/-; William Mosen, negligent driving causing bodily injury, license suspended for two years and ordered to pay the costs, £l7; John Motcatua Ruakawa, 22, attempted assault at Taihape, admitted to probation for two years, and ordered to pay the costs, £l7/5/-.

MR. HAMILTON’S TOUR. AUCKLAND, November 3. ✓

The Leader of the Opposition (Mr. Hamilton), who arrived in Auckland on Wednesday evening, is making an extensive organising tour of the North Island on behalf of the National Party. He visited Ngaruawahia on Wednesday and was entertained by Princess Tc Puea and the Maori people. Afterwards he addressed a meeting of delegates from National Party branches in the Raglan electorate. He then visited the Hopullopu military camp. Mr Hamilton visited Auckland’s coastal defences yesterday morning, breakfasting at North Head. Afterwards he addressed a meeting of his supporters in the Chamber of Commerce. Today Mr. Hamilton will speak at Ngatea in the afternoon, and at Tauranga at night. He will address a meeting at Whakatane on Saturday night. He will be- in Auckland on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, leaving for Wellington on Tuesday night, by the limited express to attend the opening of the Centennial Exhibition on Wednesday.
