PRICES OF LIQUOR

INCREASED AT AUCKLAND.

AUCKLAND, November 1.

Increases in the price, of beer and spirits were made by’ hotels in Auckland to-day. This action followed the recent increase of 3d a. gallon in excise duty’ on beer, and the raising of the duty’ on spirits. All pint bottles of beer were increased by’ Id. Local beer is now 9d over the bar, and southern lOd. Bottles to take away’ are 9Jd and 105 d respectively. The price of draught beer in quart riggers is now l/41d. p t Whisky has been increased to 14/3 a bottle, and gin to 13/3, a rise of 9d in each case. i UP AT WELLINGTON. •; WELLINGTON, November- 2. The recent increase of threepence per gallon in the excise duty’ on beer, and the raising of the duty on spirits, has resulted in an increase in bottle store prices at all Wellington hotels, as from November 1. No increases have been made in the bar prices for liquor consumed on the premises. l , Spirits prices are up by ninepence per bottle. Quart, bottles of beer, up by a halfpenny; pints, no increase. Gallon measures, draught, beer, up by threepence. The in ireases have been approved by the Price Tribunal.
