[OUE OWN CORRESPONDENT.] The monthly meeting of the Barry-town-Punakaiki Women’s Institute was held at Mrs. H. Langridge’s home. Mesdames Devereux and E. Russell assisted as hostesses. The roll call. “Cures'for the blues,” was well responded to. The paper competitions were won by Mesdames Robertson and Rowe. The* monthly competitions resulted: Best worked apron: Mrs. W. Butterworth 1, Mrs. B. Russell 2. Cookery. four fancy biscuits: Mrs. P. Wafer 1, Mrs. W. Russell 2. The annual meeting of the Barrytown Tennis Club was held recently. The balance-sheet was read and adopted. The election of officers resulted: President. Mr. E. Kennedy; secre-tary-treasurer. Mr. J. Donnelly; club captain, Mr. J. Warring. Mr. J. Warring, who has been visiting Christchurch, has returned.
