The- Illinois State Athletic Commis4 .sion has-barred the boxers;; Galento, Sclimeling, and Harry;-.'Thomas,- and the managers, Joe Jacobs and Nat E, Lewis, fronpfurther fights pending ai( inquiry, instigated by the Governor, j The “Chicago Tribune” published alleged .affidavits 'in. which Thomas- says' 'that by an arrangement between Lewis, and J,ac,dbs, the fights by Schmelingi dh December 13'. 1937,-and Galento on November 14, 1938, were faked to build ■ up reputations for challengers seeking bouts with Louis. He says theyi ¥-6ceived 8500 dollars for “taking a" dive,” and Schnieling was promised 6000 dollars for meeting Galento.
