HITLER’S CHALLENGE ACCEPTED (by cable —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. October 28, 11 a.m.) LONDON, October 27. Mr. Greenwood, in a statement on behalf of the Labour Party, with Mr. Attlee’s authority, says: Intense resentment has been created in British Labour circles over the propaganda in neutral countries, alleging that British workers are unwilling to fight, and are anxious for peace. The workers of Britain are firmly and unalterably determined to end for ever the system of organised gangsterism which has kept Europe in turmoil for years. British Labour has accepted the ‘challenge thrown down by Herr Hitler.' Although outside the Government, it is using every endeavour to strengthen its intention of finally crushing Hitlerism. It is supported therein* by the Labour movements in the Dominions. RQYAL AUDIENCE GRANTED. RUGBY, October 27. The King gave an audience to Mr Greenwood. It is understood that the audience was in pursuance of His Majesty’s ’desire to maintain contact with the leaders of the Opposition. Earlier in the week the King received Mr Attlee, leader of the Parliamentary Labour Party.
