Mrs. Ellen Eadie, a resident of the Awapuni Old People’s Home, celebrated her hundredth birthday yesterday. Born at Huddersfield, she landed at- Queensland in 1863 n and spent two adventurous years with her husband in wild country inhabited by aborigines. Later she went to Dunedin. She has six surviving children, whose ages aggregate 420 years.

The wedding was solemnised at Holy Trinity Church, this morning, of Gladys May, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Kennedy, Runanga, and Harry, second son of Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Garden, Greymouth. Archdeacon J. A. Jermyn officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a model frock of cyclamen wool georgette with navy hat and shoes, and carried a bouquet of lemon abutilons and mauve anemones. She was attended by her sister, Miss Daphne Kennedy, who wore a model frock of clover wool georgette and carried a bouquet of anemones and freezias. Mr. Robert Kennedy, brother of the bride, was best man. Mr. and Mrs. Gurden left by express for Wellington, the bride travelling in a sage green tailored coat, with navy accessories.
