CRICKET
MARIST CLUB MEETING. t The annual meeting of the Marist I Cricket Club was held in the Marist • School last evening, the President, Mr - J. D. Cullen, presiding over a good attendance. A motion of sympathy was passed ' with the Rathbun family in their ! bereavement. 1 The balance-sheet, showing a debit ' balance, and the annual report, which was as follows, were adopted:—lt is with pleasure .your Committee places i before you the fourteenth annual rei port of the club. The past season was very enjoyable, and although the two senior teams were unsuccessful the juniors won their competition, going through without defeat. They are to be congratulated on a line performance. These players should stick to their practice as there are several if they concentrate on the game who may achieve high honours. While on this subject, the seniors set a bad example, few practising, and in the result of the games was reflected the lack of practice. It. cannot be too strongly urged on all members that, practice for cricket is essential. With reference to the gear, the net requires repairs. It will also be necessary to purchase bats for matches as the five bats belong to the club are fit. for practice only. With reference to the balance-sheet, we have to point out the unsatisfactory position. This is mainly due to the non-payment of subscriptions, and we would' request members to pay their subscriptions immediately. Also, it will be necessary to find some means of augmenting the finances of the club, and this matter should have your immediate
attention. Tlie following senior players were chosen to represent the Association:—O. Morris, W. Clancy J. Mathews, J. Cornish, W. Tindale, F. Bayley, M. Marshall, B. Marshall and H. Greenwood. The following juniors also achieved representative I honours:—W. Meates, J. Curnow, C.l Curnow, L. Roper and A. Dowell. In conclusion, we would ask for the assistance and co-operation of all members so that a good effort be made to place the club on a firm footing financially. and we wish all members success and enjoyment in the coming season.
