ALLIED VICTORY PREDICTED
AMERICAN PROFESSOR’S VIEWS [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] BOSTON, October 16. Dr. Anton de Haas, professor of international relations at Harvard University, declared that Germany had already lost the war. The time of her collapse depended on the period for which the Nazis balanced books with the gun. He cautioned the Allies, in the event of victory, to avoid the errors of Versailles. A bankrupt Germany, he said, would be a fertile ground for Communism. The Allies would find the defeat of Germany faced them with a moredisturbing problem. Russia would thus thereby be aided to establish Communism throughout Germany. For this reason Conservatives, middle classes and industrialists hesitated to revolt against Nazis. He urged that the Allied peace aims should offer Germany equality and assistance in the solving of financial chaos, with the ultimate goal of European co-operation to overcome economic problems.
