TECHNICAL SCHOOL

FETE AND EXHIBITION Mr. W. M. Stewart (Principal) presided over a large committee meeting at the School on Monday. There were present Mcsdames Stewart, Learmont, Gilbert, Rose, Lindsay, Judkins, Hutton Batty, McAulay, Congreve, Thompson, Dunn, Reeves, McKenzie, King and Misses Ray, Muir and Mawhinney, Messrs Kehoe, Mitchell and Judkins. Apologies were received from Mesdames Shannon, Kehoe, White, North, Wicks and from Misses McKay. McNiven, McDonald. The Chairman expressed pleasure at the fine attendance which, he said, indicated the enthusiasm and co-opera-tion evervwhere existing this year. He said a. new interest would be lent, to the fete, since on the day Wednesday, November 1 would take place the ofiicial opening of the recently completed and equipped engineering ami woodwork block. This fine building would be open for inspection by the public and also the reconditioned chemical laboratory. Strong committees were set up withe following stalls, which promise to he stocked on the same generous scale as in former years: Work, sweets, cakes, jumble, flowers and vegetables, and ice cream and milk bar. The exhibition of school work, which is the primary reason for the function, will include the usual display of woodwork, metalwork. drawing, commercial, 'chemical, arts and crafts. Letters were received from both the Municipal Band and the Greymouth Pipe Band offering to provide the music for procession and during the afternoon and evening. These offers were gratefully accepted.
