COBDEN CLUB’S OPENING. Under ideal, conditions, the Cobden Tennis Club’s season was officially opened on Saturday afternoon, there being a large attendance of members and representatives of other clubs. In declaring the season open, the President (Mr A- L. Abbie) expdessed pleasure at the number of new members and welcomed them to the club, while wishing all members an enjoyable season on the courts." During the afternoon, a ’ Yankee tournament was held, the winners being E. Gilmour and Mrs T. Shaw. Afternoon tea was served by the women’s committee. RUNANGA CLUB. There was a large attendance at the] opening of the Runanga Tennis Club’s season, which took place on Saturday.The President (Mr J. Quinn) declared the season open and expressed the hope that it would be successful. He also welcomed the new members. Afternoon tea was served by the women’s commitee. The Yankee tournament held during the afternoon was won by Messrs S. Kennedy and J. Soster, the semi-final and final results being:—Messrs L. Booker and J. Baddeley v. S. Kennedy and J. Soster, 2/4; E. Southward and G. Henderson v. W. Amor and L. Wearn, 3/4. Final: L. Wearn and W. Amor v. S. Kennedy and J. Soster, 3/4.

Holohan) declared the season o]>en and wished members an enjoyable season. Friendly games were played, and afternoon tea was served by the women's committee.
