The Minister of Defence (Mr. Street) announced that four small 700-ton coastal patrol sloops of modern design are to be built in Australia for coastal patrol, mine-sweeping and anti-sub-marine service. It is expected the vessels will he completed within a year. -DRY” CANTEENS SYDNEY. October 14. The Synod of the Diocese of Sydney passed a resolution commending the decision of the Federal Government, that dry canteens would he maintained in militaiy camps. CONTROL OF COMPANIES CANBERRA, October 14. Emergency regulations, to bring all measures for the flotation of new companies. or for the raising of fresh capital for companies, clubs or associations, under the absolute control of the Commonwealth Government, were promulgated in a special Gazette.
