The death occurred at Nelson, last evening, of Mr. George Cooper McNabb, a former resident of Dobson, aged 69 years. Deceased resided on the West Coast for the greater part of his life, only recently moving to Motueka,. He is survived by his wife, four sons Messrs. J. F. McNabb (Marsden), G. D. McNabb (Greymouth), C. P. McNabb (Hunterville), and W. N.' McNabb (Motueka); also two brothers, Messrs. Frank and Alex (Christchurch), and four sisters, Mes-' dames W. Howard (Dunollie), J. Fensom Karamea), R. Elford (Motueka) and J. Simpson (Karamea).

Mr. W. M. Reid, who has been president of the Greymouth Owners’ and Breeders’ Association for several years past, will leave shortly for' Auckland, where he will reside. He was entertained at a farewell social by the Association in the West Coast 1 Old Boys’ rooms last evening, and presented with a travelling rug. Mr. W.\ Greenhill, senr., made the presentation, and with other speakers expressed appreciation of Mr. Reid’s services to the Association, and wished him health and happiness in Auckland. „

Before business began at last evening’s meeting of the Greymouth Borough Council, the Mayor (Mr. F. A./ Kitchingham) made reference 'to the death of Cr. A. H. Paterson. The . : Mayor v said that, undoubtedly, Cr. Paterson’s death has" come as a great shock. to. the whole. Council. Cr. Pat-J erson had brought' excellent judgment; to bear on many matters in connection with the work of the Council, and/ they all knew the great sacrifice of time and labour he had made in the , interests of the community. His death was a great loss to the Cpuncil. A message of condolence had been sent .to <Mrs. Paterson, but he moved that the Council should place on record its deep appreciation of the valuable services rendered by Cr. Paterson during the four and a-half years he was on the Council. The motion was carried, councillors standing in silence. i '

The death occurred at Christchurch, last evening, of Mr. Robert Baird Tennent; A son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Tennent, of Greymouth, aged 34 years, deceased was foi- some time in the employ of the Railways Department, but for the past , few years had managed his father’s jewellery business in Hokitika. He had been in ill-healfh' for 15 months. He took a keen inter-. est in the work of St. John’s Presbyterian Church (Greymouth) and in music. He was secretary of St. John’s Bible jClass since its inception and al-, though taking up residence in Hokitika, carried on the work for some time. He was also organist at St. John’s Church for a number of years, and while residing at Hokitika travelled to Greymouth twice weekly to preside at the organ. He was also a Past Master and organist of Pacific' Lodge, Hokitika;* a member bf the Hokitika Kilwinning Royal Arch Chapter, a member and organist: of the Greymouth Masonic Lodge and a Past Arch of the Star of the WestLodge, U.A.O.D. He is survived by .his wife (formerly Miss Muriel Campbell), his parents, one brother, William, and four sisters, Mrs. L. F. Anderson, Misses. Marion, .Belle and Molly Tennent, all of Greymouth. The funeral will take place on Sunday: afternoon, at Karoro Cemetery..
