The following promotions of officers of the New Zealand Regular Force have been gazetted: — New Zealand Staff Corps: The under-mentioned to be lieutenantcolonels, dated' September 1— Major (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel),.A. E. Conway, Major (temporary LieutenantColonel), K. L. Stewart, Major (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel) L. G. Goss, Major D. H. W. H. Donaldson, Major (temporary Lieutenant-Colonel), S. H. Crump. . ■ The undermentioned to be majors: Captain M. E. Johnson, Captain K. J. Walker, Captain (temporary Major) L. W. Andrew, Captain W. G. Gentry, Captain S. C. V. W. Sugden, Captain S. F. Allen, Captain J. I. Brooke, Captain J. A. M. Clacham, Captain G. M. McCaskill, Captain D. T. Maxwell, Captain A. W. Greville. The undermentioned are granted the temporary rank of major:-—Cap-tain J. W. Barry, Captain C. Shuttleworth, Captain H. G. Woohler. Major K. W. Fraser has relinquished command of the 18th Anti-aircraft Battery and is appointed to command the 13th Heavy Battery.

GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S STAFF.' WELLINGTON, September 7. Major R. G. G. Byron, 4th-7th .Dragoon Guards, who has been military secretary to the Governor-General for the last 18 months, has relinquished his appointment on His Excellency’s staff, and has left New Zealand to rejoin his regiment. He was accompanied' by Mrs Byron. Lieutenant *S. R. le H. LombardHobson, R.N., naval aide-de-camp to the Governor-General since December, 1937, has also relinquished his appointment on His Excellency’s staff, and has left for England.
