Mr. and Mrs. J. McKenzie left this morning for Christchurch. Mr. I. Baker left* to-day, on a visit to Christchurch. Captain Kee, C.A.. left this morning, for Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. R. Robertson left this morning, on return to Dunedin. Miss C. Palmer left t'o-day, on a visß to Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. V. C. Hughes returned yesterday, from a visit to Kaikoura. Mr. L. Davis left this morning, on return to Christchurch. Mr. F. Boord, Stores Branch, Public Works Department, Westport, left today, on transfer to Christchurch. A London cablegram stated that the British Ambassador to Germany (Sir Nevile Henderson) and his staff, have arrived at The Hague. . ■ Mrs. B. Massey, who has been the guest of Mrs. J. R. Lindbom, Cobden, will leave by to-morrow’s air service for Wellington, on return to Melbourne. Mr."G. G. Chisholm, who was recently appointed Magistrate and Warden for the West Coast, arrived in Greymouth, yesterday. He was accompanied by Mrs. Chisholm. Passengers by Cook Strait Airways West Coast service to-day were:— Westport-Greymouth: Master K. Butler; Nelson-Grey mouth: Mr. C. Jacobi; Greymouth-Wellington: Mrs. N. J. McCarthy, Mr. H. A. Robinson.

Rev. Lawrence A. Nortlf has accepted the invitation of the Vivian Street Baptist Church, Wellington, to become its minister, and will, take up , his duties in November. Mr. North, who was for some years minister, of the Oxford Terrace Baptist Church, has been stationed in Wellington for the past year as general secretary.of the Baptist Union of New Zealand. The death has occurred at Dunedin of Mr. Charles Percy M, Butterworth, son of the founder of the firm of Butterworth Bros., Ltd., who carried on business as warehousemen for many. years. Born at Dunedin in 1865, he was educated at Cheltenham College, England, and was brought , up to'.the soft goods trade in the London office o" the firm, and, in Dunedin in 1891;.on the death of his father, he became managing director of the company.— Press Assn. ... . •

The death has occurred of one of New Zealand’s veteran bowlers, Mr. John Veale Dingle, of Grafton, in his ninety-second year. In 1901 Mr. Dingle visited England, with, the New Zealand ' bowling team, and won the world’s championship at the Crystal Palace. He was a life member of the Auckland. Bowling Club, and had won the club championship several times. H& was for long an enthusiastic worker for the club, and was a familiar figure at its tournaments with Mrs. Dingle, who ; survives him. Mr. Dingle was a Taranaki pioneer, and was one of the small band of surviving Maori war pensioners. He and Mrs. Dingle celebrated last January the sixty-fifth anniversary of their wedding.—Press Assn. ' ' ■ ..
