W.F.A. MEETING. The. fortnightly meeting of the W.F.A. was held on Saturday evening. Those present were: Messrs. W. Rafferty (chairman), R. J. Armstrong, E. Taylor, R. Bowman. ,J. Wood and E. Flood (secretary). The secretary submitted the balance sheet of the Peter Dawson Cup game, which was approved. The Director of the National Broadcasting Station 3ZR, wrote regretting that he could not do anything in the matter of a broadcast of the NelsonWestland representative game, pointwig out that, the Rugby Union had the option for the season. Much discussion took place over the Director’s letter and it was decided that as it was too late in the i season to make a move, to leave the matter over until next season. The secretary of- the Runanga Club forwarded affiliation and registration fees.

The chairman said that, while he appreciated the Runanga Club secretary’s action, he must point out that the registration, fee was inadequate, without the names of the players registered with the club. Without, the names the W.F.A. was handicapped, in that it was in the dark as to ■ which players, were eligible tor cup-games and representative honours. Also, the club was in the position to introduce any new player into a game and declare him eligible. The members agreed with the views of the chairman, and the secretary was instructed to write, to the Runanga Club, requesting the names of the players registered.

The Taylorville Club forwarded registration fees and the names of the players; also, a donation towards the expenditure incurred by the primaryschools team, which travelled to Christchurch recently. The secretary was instructed to write to Taylorville, expressing the W.F.A.’s gratitude.

Mr. Taylor said that Buller considered September 2 was too early for; the Emms Shield match. He also expressed his dissatisfaction that the | W.F.A. had not given Canterbury an answer regarding the Dewar Cup challenge. He was of the opinion that, at a previous meeting, it had been decided to correspond with Canterbury on the matter. While he bad been in Canterbury with the schools team he

had been invited to attend a. meeting of the Canterbury F.A. and he was ( much surprised to learn that the ■ W.F.A. had not corresponded. The secretary said that. to his knowledge, at the meeting mentioned by Mr. Taylor, nothing definite had been decided in the matter of the Dewar Cup. Minutes of previous meetings were read and it was found to be an oversight on the part of the secretary. Mr. Taylor said that Canterbury were quite prepared to accept senior players if they were in. their minority, for the Dewar Cup challenge. | Appreciation was expressed at Canterbury’s offer, and the secretary was requested to write offering September 9 for the Dewar Cup challenge. Messrs. Armstrong and Bowman said that the W.F.A. had too long delayed the junior representative game and the only way to encourage the juniors was the prospect of interprovincial games. Referring to Canterbury’s challenge for the Peter Dawson Cup, Mr. Wood said that, in his opinion. September Ki was an ideal date for the game. It. was decided that Canterbury be offered September 16.
