BUTTER AND CHEESE. LONDON, August 24. Butter is in fair demand. Choicest New Zealand salted and unsalted 121/-, 122/-. Australian 114/-, Danish 126/-. Cheese firm. New Zealand white and coloured 59/-, 60/-. Australian w’hite 55/-, 56/-; coloured 56/-, 57/-. GOLD AND EXCHANGE. LONDON, August 24. Gold 148/5, dollar 468 1-8, franc 1763. RESERVE BANK RETURN. A very small increase—£2l,7B6 —in sterling exchange and a rise of £555,.322 in advances to the State are shown in this week’s Reserve Bank return. The note issue has again expanded and while State deposits have fallen slightly, those of the banks have risen by more than £500,000. Other demand liabilities are £81,218 lower and investments are higher, by £91,199. The proportion of reserve to notes and other demand liabilities is 27,478 per cent, against 28.026 per cent, last week. STOCKS AND SHAKES. WELLINGTON, August 25. The Nemona dredge return for this week is 30 ounces, from 9,500 yards, treated in 121 hours. MOUNT MORGAN. WELLINGTON, August 25. The Mount Morgan report states that production during the four weeks ended August 23 was as follows: —Ore mined, 68,279 tons; ore treated, sulphide 40,400 tons, oxide 29,590 tons; estimated production of gold, 5001 ounces; copper 258 tons.
