The West. Coast golf championship tournament was continued at the Mahinapua links yesterday, under ideal conditions, and good progress was made in the various sections. The semi-finals of the men’s championship w.cre closely contested,, R. Adamson (Hokitika) eliminating L. Rhodes (Greymouth), and B. W. Caulton eliminating G. Adamson (Hokitika). The women's championship also reached the semi-finals, Mrs. Andrewes (Hokitika)' defeating her sister, Miss Adamson, and Miss Robertson (Westport) eliminating her club-mate, Mrs. Slee. Some good golf was also witnessed in the handicap and subsidiary events, there being several surprises. The results were as follow: MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP. R. Knight (Hokitika). VISIT OF AUSTRALIANS. WELLINGTON, August 24. Subject to the New Zealand Golf Association’s approval, the Australian team which will visit New Zealand, desires to play at Auckland, Christchurch and at the New Zealand championships in Wellington. The council of the New .Zealand Golf Association has replied expressing pleasure at the acceptance of the invitation and approved the Australian Golf Union’s suggestion concerning the matches to be played. An Australian and New Zealand match will follow the New Zealand championships. The teams will compete for the Pacific Trophy, which will take the place of the Kirk-Wind-eyer Cup. The trophy has been given by an anonymous New Zealand donor and will be played for by teams representing the whole of Australia instead of by teams from the various States. Competitions for the trophy will be played annually alternating between Australia and New Zealand. The Australians will arrive at Auckland about October 20. AUSTRALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP.
