CHRISTCHURCH, August 24. The entry of fat sheep at yesterday's Addington market was the smallest for some time and there was a keen sale, with a sharp advance of 2/- a bead in the final stages. The West Coast contributed a substantial proportion of the comparatively small entry of fat cattle, which sold erratically at values little different from last week.

Store Sheep: The entry of 3000 head included some good Romney cross ewes and hoggets, which sold at 22/- to 25/8. Halfbred ewe hoggets sold to 22/-, with medium from 13/- to IS/- and rough down to 7/-. There were several pens of ewes and lambs offered. The best of these sold at 11/-, with others at 7/-. Two-tooth half-bred ewes made to 21/7, older ewes at 12/- io 15/-, and rough down to 2/6.

Fat Sheep: The sale for a small entry of about 4000 head was one of the best, of the season, being firm from the outset, with all classes better. The market steadily firmed until the last two races, when the obvious shortage of the supply caused something of a scramble, and there was a sharp jump of from 2/- to 2/6 a head. Values were: Extra prime heavy wethers. to 40/1; prime heavy wethers. 32/- to 35/-; prime medium-weight wethers, 27/6 to 31/-: ordinary wethers, 24/- to. 27/-; light wethers. to 23/6; extra, prime heavy ewes, to 34/10; prime heavy ewes.’ 28/6 to 31/-; prime medium-weight ewes, 25/to 28/-; ordinary ewes. 20,6 to 2U-: light ewes. 15/- to 20/-.
