[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON. August 22. The Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Reefton District High School were closed on Monday evening, with the Jubilee Ball in the Criterion Theatre. The attendance was a record of over 500 dancers, and the function was a fitting conclusion to the Jubilee. The music was provided by Mrs. Curtis’s orchestra, and Mrs. Eklund and Mr. A. H. Lawn played extras. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis, Mr Fitzgerald and partner, and Mr. Gibelenni and partner, won novelty dances. Miss Doolan drew the Madam Mystery Card for the prize. Messrs L. Harris (Nelson), J. Fleming (Kokatahi), Mesdames Walters and Kearns (Westport), visited Reef ton for the Jubilee celebrations. At a sitting of the Warden’s Court, held at Reefton, to-day, before Mr. Raymond Ferner, S.M., as Warden, the following applications, were dealt with: — Dominion Mineral Prospecting Coy Ltd. (no liability), special quartz claim.—Declined. J. Hargreaves, a special dredging claim and an extension of time for the hearing of an application.—Recommended. Snowy River Gold Dredging Ltd., special dredging claim. —Recommended. E. T. Cox, ordinary prospecting licence.—Granted. D. Absalom, ordinary prospecting licence. —Granted. A. E. Mclnroe and A. O’Maliy, four ordinary prospecting licences. —Granted. S. R. Blair and others, ordinary prospecting licence and leave to amend the application.—Leave to granted, application recommended. Big River Gold Mining Coy, leave to surrender a claim licence. —Accepted. At a sitting of the Magistrate’s Court, before Mr. Ferner, Charles E. Rehia, for carrying on a motor-lorry an overload, was. fined £3 14/-. with costs 12/-.
