[By CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] TRADE WITH NEW ZEALAND CANBERRA, August 21. Trade returns issued to-day disclose that Australia’s trade with New Zealand fell by £490,219 in the year 1938‘39. The fall was due to a large extent, to the import restrictions. However, the Australian exports to New Zealand still exceed Australia’s imports from New Zealand by £3,196,609. CA RTOONI ST’S DEATH. MELBOURNE, August 22. The body of Lecnard F. Reynolds, •12, cartoonist of the “Sun” and “NewsPictorial,” was found in the sea at the foot of a cliff at Beaumaris. Reynolds’ car was at the top of the cliff, from where it is believed that Reynolds accidentally fell. PACIFIC AIR BASES. SYDNEY, August 22. The “Herald’s” aviation writer says the aviation authorities in Sydney believe that the flying-boat Aotearoa, now on the way from Southampton to Sydney and Auckland, could be more usefully employed on a survey of possible island bases throughout the Pacific, than on the suggested trial flight between Auckland and America, a route which has already been surveyed.
