GERMANY AND RUSSIA
NON-AGGRESSION PACT ANNOUNCED IN BERLIN [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Recd. August 22, noon) LONDON, August 21. It it officially announced in Berlin that Germany and Russia have agreed to conclude a non-aggres-sion pact. The German Foreign Secretary (Herr von Ribbentrop) is going to Moscow on August 23, to complete the negotiations. AU. the news agencies carry the German official announcement of the pact, the text of which reads: “The German and Soviet Governments have reached an understanding, regarding the conclusion of a non-aggression pact. Herr von Ribbentrop will arrive in Moscow on August 23, to conclude the negotiations.”
TRADE AGREEMENT. MOSCOW, August 21. “Pravda” editorially comments on the new Russo-German trade agreement: It says: “This agreement has been born in an atmosphere of strained political relations. The agreement is destined to release that atmosphere. It may prove a serious step toward a further improvement. not only in the economic, but also in the political relations between the Soviet Union and Germany.”
