An attempt will be made this -week by 0. Barnard, of the New Plymouth Amateur Cycling Club, to break the cycling record for the ride from Auckland to Wellington. The record 1 was established by L. G. Lukey, in December, 1921, when he covered: the 4G2 miles in 36 hours 19 minutes. Barnard expects to arrive in Wellington between 1 p.m. and; 2 p.m. on Satur-< day, and arrangements are being made by Wellington cyclists to give him a lifting welcome.
