The line? Grama, from London, arrived to-day. During the voyage from London, an Italian passenger slashed his wife’s throat with a knife. He then threw himself overboard and was drowned.
SWISS MIGRANTS CANBERRA, July IS
A steady influx of Swiss migrants at the rate of 50 per month into Australia has been arranged between the Commonwealth Government and the Swiss Consul-General. The migrants will include farmers and high-ly-skilled mechanics.

The “Herald’s” Melbourne correspondent says that, if the Federal Ministry is prepared to promise legislative assurance against industrial and military conscription, it is regarded as certain that the unions’ opposition to the national register will be'withdrawn. Such a promise will be sought when Messrs. Menzies and Street meet the Federal Labour Advisory Committee, on Friday.
