ATTEMPTED BIGAMY
MARRIAGE OF CONVENIENCE. A married man with seven children, whose intended marriage of convenience with a German dancer was prevented by the superintendent registrar at Caxton Hall, -was sentenced to nine months’ imprisonment, at the Old Bailey yesterday. George Hollingsworth, 38, a hawker, of Kemble Street, W.C.. pleaded guilty to making a, false declaration that he was a bachelor. Mr. Henry Elam, prosecuting, said
that Hollingsworth was married in 1920, and his wife was still alive. In March this year he and a Woman named Rittel applied at Cakton Hall register office to get married, and March 3 was the date arranged. The ; superintendent registrar made inquiries, and as a result the ffiarriage ‘ did not take place. /! Mr. Elam said that the woman Rittel wanted the protection of this country. 1 Eho had a. German passport, but had Jewish blood in her veins. She and a Frenchman were professional dancers ■at a West End hotel. i Det.-Sergt. Miller said that Hollings- ' worth had 11 convictions. I /
