Mr. A. H. McKane returned, yesterday, from Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Rose returned, yesterday, from Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. J. Fowler left this morning for Christchurch. Mrs. E. Armstrong left this morning, for Christchurch. Miss G. Ownsworth left to-day, on return to Ashburton. Mr. and Mrs. A. McKenzie left today, on return to Wellington. Miss T. Ward left, this morning, on return to Christchurch. Mr. R. Simes left to-day, on return to Christchurch. Mr. A. Buchanan left this morning, on a holiday visit to Dunedin. Mrs. P. Keating and Miss P. Keating returned, yesterday, from Christchurch. An Official Wireless message stated that Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain, and Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy, left Windsor Castle, where they were overnight guests of Their Majesties. Among others who arrived at Windsor Castle yesterday was Mr. James Roosevelt, son of the United States President.

The appointment of the present as-sistant-superintendent of reserves, Mr. M. R. Skipworth, to the position of superintendent on April 1, 1940, when the superintendent (Mr. D. Tannock) will retire, was approved at a meeting of the Dominion City Council last night.—Press Association.

The wedding took place recently at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, Greymouth, Rev. F. A. Robertson officiating, of Myrtle, youngest daughter of Mrs. Sockley, Blackball and of the late Constable Mcßoberts, and James, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. F. Mitchell, Hokitika. The bride, who was escorted by her brother, Mr. Cecil Mcßoberts, was attired in a navy pin stripe costume, with accessories to tone, and carried a posy of pink roses, dahlias and maiden hail’ fern. She was attended by Miss Jean Mitchell, sister of the bridegroom, who wore a saxe blue costume with accessories to tone and carried a posy of marigolds and maiden hair fern. Mr. W. Blackie was best man. The reception was held at Harker’s. Mr. and Mrs. Mitchell left by the express for Christchurch.

The death occurred at Greymouth, last evening, of Mrs. Jessie Ann Wills, wife of Mr. Thomas Wills. . A native of Greenwich, England, aged 63 years, deceased came to New Zealand as an infant and had resided in Greymouth for over 60 years. Her first husband, 'William Williams, pre-deceased her nine years ago. She leaves, besides her husband, two daughters, Mrs. W. Roberts and Mrs. C. Thompson, and one son, Mr. C. Williams (all of Greymouth). She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. M. Cameron (Greymouth), and Mrs. L. Bruhn (Paroa), and one brother, Mr. H. Little (Wellington). The funeral will take place to-morrow, leaving the residence of Mrs. Thompson, Preston Road, for the Karoro Cemetery.
