NGAHERE SPORTS

S. BOWEN’S SUCCESS The Ngahere Sports Club’s annual meeting was held at the Ngahere Domain on Saturday, in ideal weather. There was a large attendance and with good entries in all events, rhe meeting was one of the most successful held by the Club. The outstanding competitor in the chopping events was the Kopara axeman, S. Bowen, who annexed both the open upright and underhand. The cycle road race, from Greymouth, was won by P. Duffy, who completed a unique double by also winning the 100 yards footrace later in the day. The enjoyment of the gathering was increased by the installation of a public address system for announcements. There was a large attendance ar. the ball held in the Ngahere Hall in the evening.
