INDIAN CONGRESS
ASSAULT ON IMPERIALISM ULTIMATUM SUGGESTED [by CABLE—PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Received March 11, 10.30 a.m.) TRIPURA, March 10. Opening the Congress, Mr. Chandra Bose said that the time had come for a major assault on British Imperialism, and to present an ultimatum, to concede without delay all India’s national demands. The international situation was favourable for this. The Congress passed a vote of confidence in Gandhi and the old Committee, by 210 votes to 131. The Leftists solidly opposed the motion, seriously splitting the Congress. Mr. Bose is suffering from bronchial pneumonia, and his resignation is feared. VICEROY AND GANDHI. NEW DELHI. March 10. Lord Linlithgow will receive Gandhi on March 15.
