REEFTON NOTES

[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] REEFTON, March 10. After being for 17 days without rain, the Imingahua district was feeling the need of moisture, and pastures and gardens were showing the effect of continued dry weather. In February, under two inches of rain fell for the month. Residents who rely on tanks for domestic supplies were feeling the shortage of water, and dredging companies needed supplies. The Reefton Swimming Club were forced to close the baths. Ou Wednesday night, rain commenced to fall in steady showers, and at mid-day yesterday had not cleared. There was an absence of wind, and the fall will do an immense amount of good in promoting growth and tempering the humid conditions of the past, three weeks.
