NAPIER WOOL SALE. OFFICIAL RANGE OF PRICES. [per press association.] HASTINGS. February 21. Tbe market was again firm a.i lhe third wool sale of the season, held at Napier to-day. Tliet ottering o 27.51)() bales came before a full ami representative bench of buyers, am. there 'was keen competition, with Bradford and the Continent operating freely. Most of the wool was only of average type, many lines being discoloured. and showing' signs ol the adverse weather at shearing time, The coarser classes of wool attracted most, attention, and to this type of wool went the highest price of the day, 14Ad. This was for a. line, oi coarse 44’s. The best price that could be obtained for Lincoln wool was 13d. A number of lines of super crossbreds reached to 12d and 12Jd, and fine crossbreds ranged from 10:7d to Hid, and. medium from 91 to 103 d. Some lines of lambs’ wool were offered, and made from fid to 12?.d, with an average price of fijd. Hogget wool realised from HJd to 11 Ml. There was a steady demand for necks and pieces, and prices ranged from fid to 10£d. and from 7id to fijd respectively. Throughout the day bidding 'was animated and the sale remained firm right up to the last. Little variation was recorded between yesterday’s prices and those ruling at the January sale. SALES AT SYDNEY. SYDNEY, February 20. At (ho wool sales, 10,026 bales were offered and 910.3 sold al auction as well as 72:1 privately. There was good competition from the Continent and Yorkshire, and moderate support from Japan. Prices were well up to last week for all descriptions.

Greasy merino made to 25Jd. The average price of wool last week was £l3/13/5 a bale, or 11.3 d. per lb.

The Nestle and Anglo-Swiss Condensed Milk Company, Ltd., contemplates extending its operations to New Zealand because of the import regulations.

The New River dredge commenced work on February 15, after being shut down for two weeks for repairs. The next wash-up will be on February 2.3. MATAKI JUNCTION. WELLINGTON, February 21. The Murchison-Mataki Junction return for the two weeks ended Feb ruary 16, is 36 ounces of smelted gold for 179 hours, from 20,000 yards. PUBLIC TRUST OFFICE. Estates of a value of £608,443 were reported and accepted for administration by the Public Trustee, during January. 1939. The total value of the estates and funds under administration. by the Public Trustee on March 31, 1938, was £60,815,306, and the new business for the ten months ended January 31, 1939, -was £5,359,762. Grants of administration made by the Court in favour of the Public Trustee numbered 97 for the month. During the month. 371 new wills appointing the Public Trustee executor were prepared on behalf of testators and lodged for safe custody, and 250 existing wills were revised to provide for changes desired by testators. The total number oP'wills now held in the Public Trust Office on behalf of living persons is 92,499.
