FEILDING RAM FAIR. FEILDING, February 3. , The annual ram lair at Feiidmg concluded to-day with an offering of 57 stud and 1850 flock rams. The attendance was again very large, the demand being superior to that for Rom neys .sold on the previous day. me (op price for stud rams was 82Jgns, the vendor being the well-lknown South Island breeder, H. J. Andrew, of Maheno, who also obtained the seconi highest price of 72igns. Rams shown in the special classes at the Feildmg show averaged sggns for pens of four, while singles in the show classes averaged 7&gns. The large catalogue of flocks enjoyed a splendid sale, well over half selling at auction at an average of s£gns.

BUNDI To February 1, the Bundi Tin Dredging Co.’s dredge worked 80 hours, treating 8211 cubic yards, for a recovery of 69 ounces 9dwts smelted gold. ARGO. The Argo dredge return is 490 z. for 120 hours and 11,000 yards. WHITE’S ELECTRIC

The return of gold Avon by White’s Electric Gold Dredging Company’s dredge during the week ended February 2 was 43 ozs. of gold from 6700 yards treated in 132 hours. NEW RIVER The return of gold won by the New River Company’s dredge during the week ended February 2, was 22ozs. of gold from 6000 yards treated in 90 hours’ dredging time. The dredge will be stopped for a week for repairs. BLACKBALL CREEK. The return for the Blackball Creek dredge was 75 ounces for 120 hours. ALEXANDER MINES.

Gold returns for month of January: 176 tons of ore crushed for 2620z5. 3dwts of melted gold. Cyanide Department: 120 tons of sands treated for 21 oz. Sdwt. of bullion. BIG RIVER. Report for the w r eek ending February 3:—No. 5 Level: North Stope: The lode is lengthening to the north. The stone is very hard —three feet wide and of good grade. North Stope: South End: Face improved. Clean stone four feet wide. Winze: Sunk four feet. Total 21 feet. Stone three feet wide in north end. Ift 6in wide in the south end. No. 6 level: Crosscutting to the east. Distance driven 20 feet. Battery: 35 tons of stone sent to the battery.

NEW WELCOME COMPANY Progress report for month of January: Low Level Tunnel: The contractors resumed work after the holidays on January 10. Fifty-one feet completed to the 27th, making total distance 225 feet. Good reefing country has been intersected. Face of drive is now close to the reef line cut in the water race channel before Christmas. Water Race: Ample supplies of water have been provided for driving water blast tor ventilation purposes in. the tunnel. Ventilation is now perfect. Diesel engine air compressor: A trial run with the engine, took place on the 27th and gave complete satisfaction, there being only one small adjustment to make. The compressed air rock drill should be working in a few days.
